Municipal Corporations in Kerala are local self-governments that are responsible for the civic and infrastructural needs of cities and larger towns in the state of Kerala, India. The state has a total of nine Municipal Corporations, which are governed by the Kerala Municipality Act of 1994. The municipalities are spread across the state, from the northern district of Kasaragod to the southernmost district of Thiruvananthapuram.
Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kollam, Thrissur, and Kannur are the six Municipal Corporations in Kerala
The primary responsibility of the Municipal Corporations is to provide basic civic amenities to the people living in the cities and larger towns. These amenities include water supply, sanitation, solid waste management and road infrastructure. The Municipal Corporations are also responsible for the maintenance of public parks, gardens, public health and hygiene, street lighting and other public utilities.
The Municipal Corporations are headed by a mayor who is elected by the people of the respective cities and towns. The mayor is assisted by a deputy mayor, councilors and other officials who are appointed by the government. The Municipal Corporations are also responsible for the collection of taxes from citizens like property tax, water tax, entertainment tax and vehicle tax.

The state government provides funds for the development and maintenance of civic infrastructure, while the Central government provides funds for the development of health, education and other social welfare schemes.
