Synagogues
Synagogues are Jewish places of worship, and Kerala, a state in south India, has a long history of Jewish settlement. The oldest synagogue in Kerala is the Paradesi Synagogue in Kochi, which was built in 1568. Other notable synagogues in Kerala include the Kadavumbagam synagogue in Mattancherry, the Chendamangalam synagogue, and the Punnathala synagogue in Mala. These synagogues feature unique architectural styles, with influences from both Indian and Jewish traditions. Today, the Jewish community in Kerala is small, but these synagogues continue to serve as important cultural and historical landmarks.
