Palakkad district is located in the state of Kerala, India. It is situated in the western part of the state and is bordered by the Nilgiri Mountains to the north, the Western Ghats to the east, and the Arabian Sea to the west. 

The district covers an area of approximately 4,480 square kilometers and is divided into six taluks - Palakkad, Alathur, Chittur, Mannarkkad, Ottappalam, and Pattambi. 

Palakkad district is known for its diverse topography and has several natural attractions such as hills, forests, rivers, and waterfalls. The Western Ghats mountain range runs through the eastern part of the district and is home to several wildlife sanctuaries and national parks such as Silent Valley National Park and Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. 

The district is also home to the famous Malampuzha Dam and Gardens, which is a major tourist attraction. The dam is located on the Malampuzha River and is surrounded by lush green gardens, a rope bridge, and a rock garden. 

The major rivers in Palakkad district are Bharathapuzha, Gayathripuzha, Kalpathipuzha, and Thoothapuzha. The district also has several waterfalls, including the Dhoni Waterfalls and the Kalthotti Waterfalls. 

The district's economy is mainly dependent on agriculture, with paddy and coconut being the major crops. Palakkad is also known for its handloom industry, producing traditional Kerala saris and dhotis.
