Palakkad Fort:

Palakkad Fort is a historic fort located in the city of Palakkad in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It was built by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore in 1766, and later came under the control of the British East India Company in 1790. 

The fort is situated on a hillock, which overlooks the Palakkad town. The fort is square-shaped, with a moat around it, and has four gates facing each direction. The architecture of the fort is a combination of Indian and European styles, and the fort walls are made of granite blocks. 

Inside the fort, there are several structures including a Hanuman temple, a Muslim mosque, and a magazine for ammunition storage. There is also a watchtower from where you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding areas.

Silent Valley National Park: It was established as a national park in 1984 and covers an area of approximately 237.52 square kilometers. It is located in the Western Ghats, one of the world's 34 biodiversity hotspots, and is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The park is surrounded by hills on all sides and is characterized by its dense evergreen forests, rolling grasslands, and cascading waterfalls.

The park is open to visitors throughout the year, but the best time to visit is between the months of November and March. 

Dhoni Waterfalls: Dhoni Waterfalls is a popular tourist attraction located in the Palakkad district. The waterfalls provide a refreshing respite from the heat and humidity of the region, and are a popular spot for picnics and outings.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve: The tiger reserve covers an area of 643.66 square kilometers and was established in 1973. It is surrounded by the Anamalai Tiger Reserve to the north and the Palakkad Gap Wildlife Sanctuary to the south. 

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is known for its rich wildlife, including tigers, elephants, leopards, gaurs, sambar deer, barking deer, sloth bears, and many other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The reserve also has a large number of endemic species, which are found nowhere else in the world. 

Apart from wildlife, Parambikulam is also known for its scenic beauty, with dense forests, rolling hills, gushing waterfalls, and tranquil lakes. It offers several opportunities for trekking, camping, and wildlife safaris. 

The tiger reserve is managed by the Kerala Forest Department and is a popular destination among wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. It is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding natural beauty and ecological significance. 

Malampuzha Dam: It is a large earthfill dam located in the Palakkad district. The dam is built on the Malampuzha River, which is a tributary of the Bharathappuzha River. The dam is situated about 12 km from the town of Palakkad. 

The Malampuzha Dam was constructed in the late 1940s and early 1950s as part of a multipurpose project that aimed to provide irrigation water for the surrounding agricultural lands, as well as to generate hydroelectric power. The reservoir created by the dam has a capacity of 8000 hectares of water. 

The Malampuzha Dam is a popular tourist attraction in the region, and attracts large numbers of visitors each year. The reservoir and the surrounding hills offer great opportunities for boating, fishing, and other water sports. The dam is also home to a beautiful garden, known as the Malampuzha Garden, which is spread over an area of 38 hectares and features a variety of flora and fauna. There is also an amusement park adjacent to the garden, which features a number of rides and attractions for children and adults. 

Seetharagundu Viewpoint: Seethargundu is a scenic viewpoint located in Palakkad district. It is situated on the Western Ghats and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, forests, and waterfalls. 

To reach Seethargundu, one has to travel about 20 km from the town of Nelliyampathy, which is a popular hill station in Palakkad district. The road leading to Seethargundu is narrow and winding, but it is surrounded by lush greenery and offers stunning views of the valley below. 

Once you reach Seethargundu, you will be greeted by a majestic waterfall cascading down from the hilltop. The view of the waterfall amidst the dense forest is truly mesmerizing. There is a viewpoint from where you can get a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. The view from the top is particularly breathtaking during sunrise and sunset. 

Apart from the natural beauty, Seethargundu also has a few small shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs. There are also a few small restaurants serving delicious local cuisine.
